As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods.
The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.
Sharing the Passion and the Knowledge
For athletes who do both. For coaches who believe in the whole athlete.
True hybridization.
JoT exists for athletes who refuse to choose — between the barbell and the trail, between building serious strength and building a serious aerobic engine. We call that true hybridization: training both energy systems at genuinely high levels, simultaneously, without one sacrificing the other.
Most training tools are built for one discipline. JoT is built for both — and for the coaches who program for athletes who do both. The goal is total fitness: not specialization, not compromise, but the full expression of what the human body can adapt to when the programming is honest about what it's asking.
Athletes and the coaches who serve them.
If you log your lifts seriously and track your mileage seriously — and you're tired of managing a lifting app and a running app and a spreadsheet — JoT is for you. Structured programs, density tracking, and a single plan that holds everything, from your Tuesday tempo run to your Friday density block.
For coaches: if you believe in the whole athlete, JoT gives you the tools to build programs that reflect that. Bring your periodization philosophy. Bring your methodology. The tools are opinionated enough to guide and flexible enough to get out of your way so you can share what you know with the people you serve.
Positive authenticity. Find the good. Speak the truths.
We find genuine value in every training approach and say so. CrossFit builds community and work capacity. Long slow distance builds an engine nothing else can. Powerlifting teaches you what strong actually means. Each has something real to offer — and each has limits. We name both, from a place of wanting you to train well for a long time, not from wanting to be right.
The Emerson quote at the top of this page has been here since day one because it says everything about how we work: principles are few, methods are many. JoT is a method in service of principles — health first, density as a measure of honest work, and the belief that the best training is the training you can sustain and build on, year after year.
A few things we hold to.
Health first. Let the science be your guide. Be a student. There's no right way — but some are better than others. Consistency, intensity, density, balance. Whole foods where possible. Supplement when you have to.
